WIND DAMAGE ROOF

Experiencing a tornado, hurricane, thunderstorm, or similar weather event with high winds can be frightening and potentially devastating for your home or commercial property. Moreover, tornadoes are perhaps the most costly type and common type of natural disaster that occurs in the United States, with approximately 1,000 tornadoes touching down annually.  In fact, high winds of any sort are the number one cause of damage to homes in the United States and result in the highest number of homeowners’ insurance claims, ahead of more common worries like theft, fires, flooding, and other non-weather or non-crime related events.

SIGNS OF WIND DAMAGE TO YOUR ROOF

Wind damage takes many different forms, including roof leaks, issues with the gutters, damage to the chimney, vents, and the fascia (the long straight board that runs along the bottom of the edge of the roof), and any other special features that your roof may possess such as cupolas or skylights.   Some of the signs of wind damage to a roof include loose, cracked, curled, or missing shingles, loose asphalt granules, issues with the soffit vents along the eaves and the fascia, or problems with the chimney. A hail-damage roof inspection should also be necessary because they share some of the same symptoms as a wind-damaged roof.
